THE DISCONNECT BETWEEN MYSELF AND MAN

THE DISCONNECT BETWEEN MYSELF AND MAN
Lunchroom, 13/08/18, 1425

The realisation kicked in a few weeks ago now,
The Disconnect so apparent and clear,
Between myself and man, instilling fear.
I drank it with glee at first, a new perspective,
Soon my mental fortitude, not so effective.

Truth and lie, “toe-ing” the line,
Its always got to be “everything’s fine”.
I look in myself and fright at what’s seen,
There is a cage, and inside… is me?
Is this true existence for all,
The unwritten rule, even though it’s above all.

Encouraged not to be myself and abandon morals,
Once again, just a statement to follow.
It cannot be explained to me why, “It just is”
The justice within begins to fizz.
I begin to grasp that I just may never understand,
The disconnect between myself and man.
